About

Great creative work needs more than great ideas.

It needs direction, a working process, and people who know what the work is supposed to do. We build the system underneath.

In short

OurStoriesFromHome builds the systems behind great creative work. We design a company’s editorial strategy, voice, calendar and production rhythm, then run it with our own team.

The thesis

Creative work gets treated as decoration until somebody holds it to a number.

That is the pattern across this market. Creative teams are asked to make things look good and are never asked what the work is supposed to do, so nobody can defend the budget when it matters.

Meanwhile talented African creatives spend their careers executing other people’s thinking and never get asked what they know.

We built OurStoriesFromHome to fix both ends of that.

Mission

Make great creative work repeatable and accountable.

By building the strategy, systems and delivery underneath it.

Vision

An African creative economy known for its thinking.

Not only for its output, and not only as other people’s execution arm.

How we work

Four things we hold to.

  • Diagnose before you build. We will tell you when the answer is cheaper than what you came to buy.
  • Leave the system behind. Everything is documented so it survives us and survives staff turnover.
  • Specific over impressive. Plain language, real deliverables, named owners and dates.
  • Pay creatives properly. Everyone who works on your brief is paid for test work and paid on time.
Find Your Path

Before a career, a voice.

Our CSR arm. The writing fellowship runs as a five day immersive that ends with every fellow published in an anthology. Free to fellows, funded by us and our partners.

What fellows leave with
  • A finished piece of work, edited and published
  • Publishing literacy: submissions, editors, rights, competitions
  • A place to keep writing after the program ends
